Antonio Šunjerga was born in Šibenik and spent his childhood in Čista Velika. He became interested in electrical engineering at a young age, which led him to enroll in the Electrical Engineering High School in Split in 2008. After successfully completing high school, he continued his education at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Naval Architecture, where he earned the title of Master of Engineering (dipl.ing.) in 2017.
In addition to electrical engineering, he has always been fascinated by fundamental questions about how nature works. For this reason, in 2014, he simultaneously enrolled in the Faculty of Science (PMF) in Split to study physics, where he successfully obtained a bachelor’s degree in 2017. He pursued his doctoral studies in electrical engineering, which he completed in 2021 at the Swiss École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Farhad Rachidi, focusing on the phenomenon of lightning strikes.
He has been conducting scientific research in the multidisciplinary field of lightning physics, which encompasses areas such as plasma physics, electrical engineering, meteorology, thermodynamics, and particle physics, since 2016. Currently, he is a researcher and assistant professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Naval Architecture in Split.
