Slavko Vujević was born in 1958 in Drniš. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture at the University of Split (FESB) in 1981. From February 26, 1982 until his retirement on October 1, 2024, he was continuously employed at FESB, holding positions as assistant, assistant professor, associate professor, full professor, and full professor with tenure. He defended his postgraduate MSc thesis, titled “Numerical Calculation of Earthing Electrical Field in Rocky Ground,” in 1987 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Zagreb, while he defended his PhD thesis, titled “A Combined Analysis of Earthing Grids in Karstic Soil,” in 1994 at FESB, both under the mentorship of professor Mate Kurtović.

At FESB, he delivered lectures and conducted auditory and/or laboratory exercises for more than 25 courses in undergraduate, professional, and postgraduate study programs. Over his career, he introduced 16 new courses across various study programs at FESB. Under his mentorship, six PhD theses, one postgraduate MSc thesis, 141 diploma theses, and 46 undergraduate theses were defended.

From 2000 to 2002, he served as Vice Dean for Scientific Research at FESB, from 2002 to 2004, as Vice Dean for Education, whereas from 2006 to 2023, he continuously held the position of Head of the Chair of Theoretical Electrical Engineering and Engineering Modeling within the Department of Power Engineering at FESB. Additionally, he was a member of the Committee for the Organization of the University of Split (appointed in 2003) and served on the Scientific Field Committee for Electrical Engineering and Computing from 2013 to 2017.

He was a member of two international professional associations (IEEE and CIGRE Paris) and has been a member of the E81 Technical Committee of the Croatian Standards Institute, focusing on lightning protection, for over 20 years. Moreover, he is a member of the CIGRE HRO Study Committee C-4 (Technical Performance of Power Systems).

Prof. Vujević authored or co-authored more than 100 scientific and professional papers, and 50 studies and reports for the industry, he reviewed 7 industrial reports and provided expert opinions in 11 court cases. He was the leader of two scientific research projects funded by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports of the Republic of Croatia and actively participated in the implementation of three other domestic research projects and one international TEMPUS project.

He received the IEEE PES Outstanding Engineer Award in 2016 for contributions in the field of numerical modeling of electromagnetic phenomena. In 2017, he was elected as an associate member of the Croatian Academy of Engineering at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and in 2022, as a full member of the same academy. In the same year, the Senate of the University of Split awarded him the University of Split Plaque for his exceptional contribution to the development of the university through distinguished work in the scientific and professional fields.

In November 2024, the Faculty Council of FESB awarded Prof. Vujević the honorary title of Professor Emeritus.
