Tonći Modrić was born in 1982 in Split, Croatia, where he received a dipl. ing. title, equivalent to the M.E.E., at the University of Split, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in 2005. From 2006 to 2010, he was employed at the company HEP - Distribution System Operator, where he worked in the Design Department and in the Network Development Department. In 2014, he defended his PhD thesis, “Advanced Numerical Computation of Electromagnetic Field of Power Lines and Substations”, under the supervision of prof. dr. sc. Slavko Vujević. Currently, he is employed as a researcher and associate professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split.
For the past decade, his primary interest has been related to numerical modeling and calculation of the electric and magnetic fields of substation and power lines, development of advanced models for the interpretation of geoelectrical soil sounding, and optimization model for energy storage operation in a market-oriented power system. Currently, he also deals with the analysis of electromagnetic transients in power systems with a large share of renewable energy sources (RES) using the finite element technique.
As a chartered electrical engineer, he is registered at the Croatian Chamber of Electrical Engineers and he is the author of more than 200 projects of substations, high-voltage cables and photovoltaic power stations.
His hobbies include basketball and music.
