Possible options of electric energy market development in Croatia

Abstract

The process of restructuring the electricity sector in Croatia and introducing market relations practically began with the entry into force of a package of new energy laws in early 2002. The various options for the operational implementation of this process in Croatia, as well as the possible consequences for the operation of the electricity system, require very careful consideration and an argumentative selection of models that will be appropriate to the current circumstances in the electricity sector, and to broader economic and development interests. This article provides a concise author’s view and assessment of the current situation in Croatia, as well as possible directions for further development.
