Thermal plant operation planning and impact of fuel prices on scheduling

Abstract

The article covers the issue of dispatching thermal power plants in a mixed hydro-thermal system, and the impact of fuel prices on the distribution of power among the engaged thermal power plants. It also provides basic indications of the possibility of using reversible hydropower plants with the aim of saving fuel in thermal power plants. The issue is addressed with illustrations with specific examples of the operation of the Croatian EES.
