The paper describes the process of modeling and simulating an electromechanical system such as a synchronous generator loaded with a three-phase diode bridge using the MATLAB/Simulink software package. In addition, a system consisting of two generators (the main generator and its exciter) was considered, both with a diode bridge in the armature circuit. For the mentioned generator system, simulations were made in selected stationary and dynamic modes of operation. The simulation results were verified by comparison with the results available in the respective literature. The paper also provides an overview of alternative software packages that are used for similar purposes.
