Calculation of extended earthing systems

Abstract

A prerequisite for achieving optimal and safe grounding in and around facilities with larger earth electrodes is the implementation of more realistic and accurate calculations of earth electrodes. This paper presents the basics of a new method for calculating long earth electrodes or multiple interconnected earth electrodes in a homogeneous half-space. In doing so, the usual assumption of equipotentiality of all earth electrode points or earthing systems is discarded. A procedure is used that combines the mean potential method and the node method for solving electrical networks.
