The student should describe the basic concepts of the grounding system, types of grounding electrodes and analytical expressions that enable the estimation of grounding resistance from knowledge of the grounding electrode geometry and specific soil resistance. Then, the methods of measuring grounding resistance and permissible values according to the applicable legislation should be described. The acquired knowledge should be applied to measuring the grounding resistance of several 10/0, 4 kV/kV substations and conclusions should be drawn about the quality of grounding.
