Brushless DC Motor Parametar Identification for the Purpose of the State Variables Estimation

Abstract

A method of determining the brushless DC motor parameters for the purpose of the state variables estimation is presented. The parameter identification procedure, consisting of the experimental test and numerical computation, is based on the minimization of the difference between the measured and simulated values for the same operating point. To determine the phase resistance and the inductance of the stator winding the experimental tests by a step change of the reference current were carried out. Thus, the current vaweform similiar to the one appearing in the actual drive was obtained. In addition, to determine the constant of the back electromotive force a generator no-load test was performed. The results of the parameter identification are presented and discussed.
