Domain optimization in FEM modelling of power cable heat transfer

Abstract

The transsmision and distribution of electric power with underground cables is closely related with the heat transfer capacity of their surroundings. A finite element approach with the domain optimization is proposed. Such analysis is provided by the use of FEM software package containing the originally developed automatic mesh generator. An illustrative numerical example dealing with engineering real-life problem is presented in this work.
