The paper presents a review of new capabilities of the PowerCAD (TOKSwin) software package, which has been used for many years for technical analysis (planning, protection, design, management, etc.) of transmission and distribution networks in the Croatian Electric Power Company and electric power companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The application of the PowerCAD software package is shown on the example of calculating power and energy losses in a medium-voltage distribution network. A real 35 kV network supplied from one 110/35/10 kV substation was used, as well as measured active and reactive loads at a 10 kV voltage level in 15-minute intervals over the course of a week. Different methods of calculating energy losses are shown, as well as the sensitivity of the results to the input parameters and the selected method.
