Grounding of the submarine fiber optic cable

Abstract

The paper deals with the issue of grounding a submarine optical fiber cable from the point of view of the influence of the potential funnel of the grounding conductor of a nearby power facility. The amount of induced voltage in the respective optical fiber cable due to the corresponding short-circuit current in the submarine power cable is also estimated. The aforementioned issue is illustrated on the example of the submarine optical fiber cable Scedro – Korcula.
