The paper presents a brief theoretical basis for the method of calculation of larger mesh earthing systems (mean potential method) and some of its advantages and disadvantages from the aspect of algorithm development and use of this algorithm on a digital computer. Based on many years of experience gained in the development and use of computer programs, the basic principles of designing or optimizing larger mesh earthing systems on a computer are set.
