A necessity for a modification of the Technical rules for the lightning protection of structures

Abstract

The Technical Regulation for Lightning Protection Systems for Buildings was adopted in 2008. Already at the very beginning of its application, doubts arose, primarily regarding its scope. Therefore, a broad professional public debate should be initiated as soon as possible with the aim of determining the actual scope of this Technical Regulation with regard to the content of the standards to which it refers. After the discussion, the Technical Regulation should be amended so as to define as precisely as possible its scope of application as well as the scope of the standards to which the Technical Regulation refers. The paper describes in detail what is stated as the scope of application of the Technical Regulation, what is the scope and content of the standards to which the Technical Regulation refers, and what is the scope of application of similar standards and regulations.
