Tuning voltage controller of synchronous generator

Abstract

One of the important elements of the power system is the synchronous generator. In order to continuously supply the power system with electricity, it is essential that the control system of the synchronous generator is properly adjusted. For the voltage regulator of the excitation system of a synchronous generator, linear P, PI and PID regulators are most often used today. When adjusting the voltage regulator of a synchronous generator, the problem of nonlinearity of the synchronous generator arises, which is why the response of the excitation system of a synchronous generator with a linear regulator will depend on the operating point around which the excitation occurred. This article will show one way to adjust the linear voltage regulator of the excitation of a synchronous generator.
