Abstract
This paper presents a finite element time domain model for electromagnetic transients calculations on a non-uniform multi-conductor transmission line (MTL). Based on the weighting resid-ual approach to the finite element method (FEM), a novel numerical procedure for the solution of a system of non-uniform MTL equations in the time domain has been proposed. The results obtained by the proposed method have been compared to the solu-tion obtained using the finite difference time domain method (FDTD), and very good correlation has been obtained.
