Multi-variable Analysis of the Transient Impedance of the Horizontal Grounding Electrode

Abstract

The paper deals with the calculation of transient impedance of the horizontal grounding electrode for a various parameters. Generalized Telegrapher’s Equation is used to obtain transient voltage at the feed point of the grounding electrode. Transient impedance is determined as a ratio of time domain voltage and (lightning) current at the feeding point. Numerical results are calculated for various properties, such as relative permittivity, ground conductivity, length, depth of electrode and different types of lightning current pulses. Results presented in the paper are calculated using values that characterize medium dry ground.
