High voltage engineering fundamentals

Abstract

The material provides information on: basic physical properties of insulating materials: phenomenology of flashover and breakdown of insulating materials: organization of a high-voltage test laboratory (test transformer, surge generator, high-voltage dividers, etc.): method of testing high-voltage equipment (including tests for determining the withstand voltages of equipment): basics of analysis of temporary, switching and atmospheric overvoltages in the power system (with emphasis on the characteristic situations in which they occur): phenomenon of lightning strikes in overhead lines and electrogeometric model of lightning strike development: design features and selection of technical parameters of metal-oxide surge arresters: coordination of plant insulation.
