Overvoltage protection and surge arrester selection for TS Jelinak and 12 kV cable network

Abstract

The paper presents an analysis of the overvoltage protection of the Jelinak wind farm, including the associated 12 kV cable network, and the associated Jelinak substation. Appropriate metal oxide surge arresters are selected, and their operation is numerically verified in the event of the occurrence of unfavorable expected overvoltage conditions. The insulation coordination of the observed wind farm system and Jelinak substation is also carried out.
